§1.What we collect from you
- Signup information: your email address, the county or market you select (including free-text county requests), your plan, and a source tag telling us which page or link brought you here.
- Correspondence: emails you send to [email protected], including support requests and feedback.
- Payment information: handled entirely by our payment processor when you subscribe to a paid plan. We never see or store your card number.
- Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless, aggregate) and Google Analytics (which uses cookies and collects device and usage data such as pages visited and approximate location derived from IP). See §4.
That's the list. There is no hidden tracking, no data brokering of subscriber lists, and no requirement to create an account to read anything on this site.
§2.How we use it
- To deliver the morning lists, trial editions, and service messages you signed up for.
- To answer your emails and provide support.
- To tally county requests so founding members' votes decide coverage.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages and links people find useful.
What we never do: sell, rent, or trade your email address or any subscriber information to anyone. Our business is subscriptions, not your data. Every marketing or digest email we send includes a working unsubscribe link, honored immediately.
§3.The public records we deliver (and suppression requests)
ProbateFeed's product is built from public government records — county court dockets, official record indexes, and property appraiser rolls. Those records contain names of people who are not our users: decedents, personal representatives, petitioners, and attorneys of record. We collect them from official public sources, we do not augment them with private data about private individuals beyond what licensed, lawful data providers supply, and we deliver them to subscribers for lawful business use only (see the Terms of Service for the restrictions we place on that use).
If you appear in records we deliver and want your information suppressed — for example, you are a personal representative and don't want to be contacted — email [email protected] with your name and the property or case involved. We will suppress the record from future deliveries. We can't remove anything from the public court file itself — only the county can do that — but we control what we send, and we'd rather lose a row than bother someone who has asked to be left alone.
§5.Service providers
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the service, each receiving only what the job requires: Cloudflare (hosting, storage, email routing, analytics), Google (analytics), an email delivery provider (to send the digests), a payment processor (for paid subscriptions), and licensed data providers (for enriching public records — they receive record data, not subscriber data). We don't have "data partners."
Our providers store data on their own global networks, primarily in the United States. Wherever it sits, this policy is what governs how we treat it.
§6.Retention and your rights
We keep your signup information while you're subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward, then delete it. Regardless of where you live, you can email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted — we honor access, correction, and deletion requests from everyone, not just where a statute requires it. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
ProbateFeed is a business tool intended for adults; it is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
§7.Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective date and, for changes that affect subscribers, say so in the digest itself. No silent edits.
